Boston Fern

Description:
Boston Fern is a classic houseplant known for its lush, feathery fronds that gracefully arch outward, creating a soft, elegant look. This hardy fern is popular for its air-purifying qualities and ability to add a refreshing, tropical feel to indoor and outdoor spaces. It thrives in humid environments and is often used in hanging baskets, terrariums, or as a ground cover in warm climates.

Watering:
Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry, and ensure excess water drains out to prevent root rot. In dry indoor environments, misting or increasing humidity will help prevent frond browning. Reduce watering slightly in Winter when growth slows.

Fertilizer:
Feed with a diluted balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (Spring and Summer). Avoid over-fertilizing, as too many nutrients can cause leaf tip burn. Reduce feeding in Fall and Winter when the plant’s growth slows.

Lighting:
Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate partial shade. Direct sunlight can scorch its delicate fronds, while too little light may lead to sparse, leggy growth. If grown indoors, placing it near a North or East-facing window is ideal.

Temperature:
Thrives in temperatures between 60-75°F (16-24°C). Avoid exposure to cold drafts, air conditioning vents, and temperatures below 50°F (10°C), as Boston Fern is sensitive to cold and may drop leaves when stressed.

Humidity:
Requires high humidity (above 50%) to maintain healthy, vibrant fronds. If the air is too dry, mist the plant regularly, use a humidity tray, or place it in a naturally humid environment like a bathroom. Dry air can cause frond tips to turn brown and crispy.
