Dieffenbachia ‘Seguine’

Description:
Dieffenbachia 'Seguine', commonly known as Dumb Cane, is a popular tropical houseplant recognized for its large, lush leaves with striking variegation in shades of green, cream, and yellow. This fast-growing plant adds a bold, tropical touch to indoor spaces and is well-known for its air-purifying qualities. While it is relatively easy to care for, it is important to note that its sap is toxic if ingested, making it less suitable for homes with pets or small children. With proper care, Dieffenbachia 'Seguine' can become a stunning focal point in any home or office.

Watering:
Water when the top inch of soil feels dry, keeping the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Ensure the pot has good drainage to prevent root rot. Reduce watering in the Winter months when the plant’s growth slows. Avoid letting the soil completely dry out, as this can cause leaf drooping.

Fertilizer:
Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (Spring and Summer). Reduce feeding in Fall and Winter when growth naturally slows. Avoid over-fertilizing, as excessive nutrients can cause leaf browning.

Lighting:
Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate lower light conditions. Too much direct sunlight can scorch the leaves, while too little light may result in leggy growth and faded variegation. A spot near an East- or North-facing window is ideal.

Temperature:
Thrives in temperatures between 65-80°F (18-27°C). Keep away from cold drafts, air conditioning vents, and sudden temperature fluctuations, as these can stress the plant and cause leaf damage. Avoid temperatures below 60°F (16°C).

Humidity:
Prefers moderate to high humidity. If the air is too dry, mist the plant occasionally, use a humidity tray, or place it near a humidifier. Dry conditions can lead to brown leaf edges. Maintaining stable humidity will encourage healthy, vibrant foliage.
