Ficus 'Tineke'

Description:
Ficus 'Tineke' is a beautiful and variegated cultivar of the Ficus elastica, commonly known as the Rubber Plant. It’s prized for its striking leaves, which feature a mix of deep green with creamy white and pale pinkish variegation. The glossy, large leaves make this plant an eye-catching addition to any space. Ficus 'Tineke' is not only known for its aesthetic beauty but also for its air-purifying qualities. With proper care, it can thrive and grow into a full, bushy plant that adds elegance and vibrancy to indoor environments.

Watering:
Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil feel dry. Be sure not to overwater, as Ficus 'Tineke' is prone to root rot if the soil is consistently soggy. Ensure the pot has proper drainage to allow excess water to escape. In the Winter months, reduce watering slightly as the plant’s growth slows down.

Fertilizer:
Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (Spring and Summer). In Fall and Winter, reduce feeding, as the plant's growth naturally slows. Over-fertilizing can cause leaf burn.

Lighting:
Ficus 'Tineke' thrives in bright, indirect light. While it can tolerate some direct sunlight, too much can scorch its delicate, variegated leaves. If the plant doesn’t receive enough light, the colours of the leaves may fade. A spot near a bright, East- or South-facing window is ideal for optimal growth.

Temperature:
Prefers warm temperatures between 65-80°F (18-27°C). Protect the plant from cold drafts and sudden temperature fluctuations, as these can stress the plant and cause leaf drop. Avoid temperatures below 55°F (13°C), as this can lead to permanent damage.

Humidity:
Prefers moderate humidity but can adapt to average indoor humidity levels. If the air is too dry, mist the leaves occasionally, use a humidity tray, or place the plant near a humidifier to maintain an ideal environment. Dry air can cause browning leaf tips, particularly on the edges.
