Monstera adansonii 'Swiss Cheese Plant'

Description:
Monstera adansonii, commonly known as the "Swiss Cheese Plant," is a unique and attractive climbing plant celebrated for its striking, perforated leaves. Its iconic, hole-punched foliage gives it a distinctive appearance, adding a tropical touch to any space. This vining plant can grow long, cascading stems that are perfect for hanging baskets, trellises, or allowing it to trail freely. The Swiss Cheese Plant is relatively easy to care for and makes a great addition to both beginner and experienced plant collections. It thrives in a variety of indoor environments and is known for its air-purifying properties.

Watering:
Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil feel dry. Monstera adansonii prefers to have its soil evenly moist but not soggy. Be sure the pot has good drainage to avoid water sitting at the bottom, which can lead to root rot. Reduce watering in Winter when the plant's growth slows down.

Fertilizer:
Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (Spring and Summer). In the Fall and Winter, reduce feeding as the plant’s growth slows down. Over-fertilizing can cause the plant to become leggy or result in burned leaf edges, so be sure to follow a moderate feeding schedule.

Lighting:
Prefers bright, indirect light. While it can tolerate some direct sunlight, too much can cause its delicate leaves to scorch. In lower light conditions, the plant may grow more slowly, and the holes in its leaves may be smaller. For best growth and larger, well-defined holes, place it near a bright, East- or West-facing window with filtered light.

Temperature:
Thrives in temperatures between 65-85°F (18-29°C). Avoid exposing it to cold drafts, sudden temperature changes, or temperatures below 50°F (10°C), as it can damage the plant. Keep it in a warm, stable environment for optimal growth.

Humidity:
Prefers moderate to high humidity. If the air is too dry, mist the leaves regularly, place the plant near a humidity tray, or use a humidifier to maintain moisture in the air. Dry air can cause the leaf edges to brown and stunt the plant’s growth.
